CHIP NEWELL
It is with immense sadness that I am writing this message to you. Chip Newell, after a hard-fought battle with cancer these past months, passed on last evening. If you’re receiving this message it means you’ve worked or spent time with Chip during his years here at Pascack Builders. If you’ve known him in anyway, then you know what a tragic loss his passing is and how completely he will be missed by us all.
The way that Chip dealt with his battle with cancer and the complications that resulted mirrored everything else that he did in life. He handled the challenges of this illness with hard work, professionalism, dignity, and humor just as he did with his job and his life in general. He never let himself get down and continued to concern himself with others even though he was in the battle of his life. Discussions with literally everyone who has had the pleasure of working with Chip over the years end in similar fashion……….with a smile and a story. Chip had the unique ability, while working in a very difficult business, filled with pressures from all sides, of finding the common ground between parties, of diffusing emotional confrontations, of keeping the ball moving in a forward direction, all in a way that left everyone feeling that they were being treated fairly and generally in a way that had them smiling as they moved on. He was “one of a kind” and we will miss him terribly.
Chip’s wife, Terrie, and sons, Charlie and Scott have asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Miriam Hospital Foundation Oncology Research Fund, P.O. Box H, Providence, R.I. 02901.
With regrets,
Mark
